Decreasing the Depth of Your Smile Lines

Facial aging can often involve the deepening of the nasolabial creases or smile lines. These deep lines can be lessened by several techniques. Surgically, a face lift in patients who meet the criteria for the procedure can greatly diminish these smile lines.

Patients who do not yet need a face lift but still wish to decrease the depth of their smile lines may choose non-surgical treatment with injectable tissue fillers such as Radiesse or Juvederm. These products are injected under the skin in the area of the deep smile lines. They help diminsh these lines by filling in the crease. The procedure is usually performed in the office with topical anesthetic gels or a dental block. Additionally, products such as Radiesse can last up to one year. This may be a great alternative for patients who want to look younger without having surgery.

Below is an example of a patient treated with Radiesse to decrease the depth of her smile lines and help rejuvenate the face. Please see our website www.DrJohnNguyen.com for more examples. John T. Nguyen, MD
