Make Your Hands Look Younger!

The hands can age due to sun exposure and other environmental causes. Also, aging and loss of collagen can cause the skin on the back of the hand to become loose and expose veins, bones and tendons. These effects combined can give the impression of aged hand and perhaps imply older age of a person.

There a many techniques to help rejuvenate the hands including lasers, chemical peels and fillers. Fillers can be injected under the skin of the hand to plump up the skin to help hide veins and tendons. Synthetic fillers such as Radiesse can be used with great success. Also, fat can be harvested from other parts of the body and injected under the skin in the hands.

Below is an example of Radiesse injection in the hand in one of our patients. For more

Botox Treatments Can Greatly Decrease Frown Lines in the Forehead and Brow Areas

Botulinum Toxin is an injectable drug developed to treat the visual signs of aging by reducing or removing wrinkles. The procedure is considered a safe, effective way of treating aging skin. Common areas for Botox® injections include horizontal forehead furrows, vertical lines between the eyebrows and "crow's feet" around the eyes. Botox® has proven to be one of the best non-surgical form of facial rejuvenation and is capable of producing phenomenal improvements in your appearance.

Reasons for Considering a Botox Treatment:

  • Excessive facial wrinkles.
  • Large wrinkles or furrows in your forehead.
  • Small wrinkles or “crow’s feet” around your eyes.
  • A vertical “frown line” between your eyebrows.

General Procedure

The procedure works by altering the facial muscles beneath the skin that are related to wrinkles. A cream with local anesthetic will be placed on your skin prior to treatment, and ice will be immediately applied upon completion of the Botox® treatment. The amount of Botox used for each treatment can vary with each patient and also depends on the number of areas of the face that is treated. Botox® works by blocking the impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles, thereby relaxing them. The result is the underlying facial muscles relax and the skin begins to smooth out. The effects of a Botox® treatment will last approximately three to six months after which the patient may choose to repeat the procedure.

Recovery Process

Patients generally return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure, however following the post-procedure guidelines will dramatically reduce the length and intensity of the recovery period. Patients should avoid engaging in heavy physical exercise, applying cosmetics, or laying down flat for a minimum of 4 hours after the injections. It is also advisable to avoid rubbing or massaging the injected area for at least 24 hours.

Below is an example of a patient that has been treated with Botox® to reduce the frown lines between her eyebrows and her forehead wrinkles. Please visit our website for more information on Botox® treatments. www.DrJohnNguyen.com

Decreasing the Depth of Your Smile Lines

Facial aging can often involve the deepening of the nasolabial creases or smile lines. These deep lines can be lessened by several techniques. Surgically, a face lift in patients who meet the criteria for the procedure can greatly diminish these smile lines.

Patients who do not yet need a face lift but still wish to decrease the depth of their smile lines may choose non-surgical treatment with injectable tissue fillers such as Radiesse or Juvederm. These products are injected under the skin in the area of the deep smile lines. They help diminsh these lines by filling in the crease. The procedure is usually performed in the office with topical anesthetic gels or a dental block. Additionally, products such as Radiesse can last up to one year. This may be a great alternative for patients who want to look younger without having surgery.

Below is an example of a patient treated with Radiesse to decrease the depth of her smile lines and help rejuvenate the face. Please see our website www.DrJohnNguyen.com for more examples. John T. Nguyen, MD
